The UT police have busted a gang of burglars by arresting 14 persons including eight juveniles from different parts of the city. With the arrests, cops claimed to have solved 12 cases of burglaries and vehicle theft cases in the city. The juveniles were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board which sent them to juvenile home, while others are in police custody for further investigation.
While talking to the media, Niharika Bhatt, SP city, UT, said the accused have been identified as Deepak, 19, resident of Burail, Raj Kumar, 19, and Pardeep,19, both residents of Sanjay colony, Vikas Vakeel, 26, resident of Bapu Dham Colony, Ashok Kumar, resident of Sector 4, Panchkula and Lalit Soni, resident of Manimajra.
Sector 31 police received a complaint that some persons were playing cards near Research Centre building in Sector 31. Cops reached the spot and nabbed eight persons. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they were involved in burglaries occurred on March 23 in Industrial area Phase II. With the arrests of eight persons identified as Deepak, Vikas, Raj Kumar, Pardeep and four juveniles, cops claimed to have solved eight burglary cases of Sector 31. Cops also recovered bronze scrap, copper and other stolen articles from their possession. Police said all major accused are habitual criminals.
In another arrests made by the Manimajra police claimed to have solved a bank theft case. The accused have been identified as Ashok Kumar, Lalit Soni and two juveniles. In a complaint given by Devika Mahajan, resident of Panchkula, she said on March 7, some unknown persons had stolen her jewellery from the locker room of Bank of Commerce in Manimajra. She stated that six gold bangles, a diamond bangle and five gold bangles were stolen. Cops registered a case and started the probe. During investigation, cops received a tip-off that the accused were trying to sell the stolen jewellery items in the area. Acting on the information, they has laid a checkpost near civil hospital and arrested Ashok Kumar, who worked as a security guard in the bank. Based on his statement, cops arrested the other accused involved in the case and recovered the stolen jewellery.
