The Union Science and Technology Minister, Harsh Vardhan has shown positivity and belief with regards to meeting the renewable energy target of 175 GW before 2022. India has set a target of 175 GW, which includes 100 GW solar energy.
The minister emphasized on the transformation required regarding the solar energy progress in India. According to him, this has to be converted into a social movement.
He said that the government has set an ambitious target for generation of clean energy including solar and the center has been working towards its goal. The progress in solar energy has started becoming a social movement. The country will meet its renewable target before the stipulated time
He emphasized the point that new technologies and innovations need to be harnessed in the solar energy field.
He said that the tariff has decreased from Rs 18 per unit to Rs 2.50 and this has happened because the solar movement has gained a lot momentum.
Harsh Vardhan, who is also the Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change has said that every house must generate solar power.
He also said that center has been providing the subsidy for roof-top solar and the state government should take up this project. The state must popularise rooftop solar and make it a movement.
