To implement sustainable palm oil cultivation, the stakeholders from many organizations, civil organizations, and the smallholders agreed to implement Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) scheme in Columbia.
As InfoSAWIT quoted from the official page of RSPO, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is done to promote sustainable palm oil in agricultural industries in the country, protect and manage the high conservation value, promote the Free Prior Informed Consent, make procedures to strengthen the dialogue, inclusion, prosperity and peace with the local and indigenous people. Every goal is the same with Principles and Criteria of RSPO 2018 which were officially published last month.
The institutions, such as, MVO, Columbian Smallholders Federation – Fedepalma, Solidaridad, and IDH involved in the MoU. It is also to promote sustainable palm oil between Netherland and Columbia and to increase the certified sustainable palm oil through the sustainable practices in Columbia. The agreement is the same with the target of Europe to make sure that the chain of palm oil stocks is fully sustainable in the European countries in 2020.
